FUNDAMENTAL Class for beginners in May
I am teaching monthly fundamental classes for people who have not danced flamenco before or returning to dance. I will focus on basic dance techniques. Also I will cover other necessary subjects to dance flamenco such as the music structure, singing, rhythms, the history and concepts. Flamenco is from Southern Spain and is a very unique art and cultural form that contains music and dance. I am hoping to help the participants understand and love the uniqueness and complexity of the dance.

Class Description
① and ②
Section A; Intermediate Technique (and Repertoire in Sunday classes) and Section B; Compás and Theory
Recommended for dancers who have danced flamenco regularly for more than two years. The classes are offered twice a week on Sundays and Thursdays. Each class consists of two sections. Section A is intermediate dance technique (and repertoire only in Sunday classes), and Section B is compás (rhythms) and theory of flamenco.
Please note. Section A and B are considered as one class.
In Section A, each and different dance component will be focused to strengthen basic techniques which allow dancers to dance in natural and kinetically reasonable ways. In Sunday classes, short repertoires are added to the technique part. The compás and theory part focuses on familiarizing on compás and palmas (hand clapping) and also learning different palos (songs) and styles of cantes (singing).
③ Beginning Bata de Cola and Mantón Technique
This class teaches basic technique and exercises of bata de cola and mantón as well as short repertoire for coordinations. I teach bata based on techniques I learned with Miragros Menjibar at Fundación Cristina Heeren. Dancers used to manage the bata mostly on the floor, however she invented techniques in which she lift her bata in the air often times. You will learn techniques to bring your bata higher in the air. Recommended to bring your own bata and mantón. Contact Sachiko if you do not have those but wish to take the classes.
